Our IP-protected platform and growing database address multiple billion-dollar markets – from next-generation battery materials to low-cost fuels – while significantly reducing our carbon footprint in key industrial applications. 

Sylvatex is currently seeking to hire a lab technician.  As a lab technician at Sylvatex, you will support the development of new cathode processing techniques for Li-ion battery testing.  You are passionate about positively impacting the environment with innovative clean energy solutions.  You are proactive and capable of operating in a fast-paced startup environment with little supervision.  Curiosity and optimism are two of your superpowers. This role will report to the Engineering Director.

The Role: 

  • Running and maintaining processing equipment associated with material production (e.g., kilns, mills, etc.)
  • Create robust documentation (e.g., batch records, SOPs, reports) and preventative maintenance plans
  • Coordinate with researchers to execute and document experimental runs 
  • Candidate should be able to lift 20-30 pounds daily
  • Should be familiar with basic mechanical tools (wrench, drills, etc.)
  • Prepare electrodes for battery cell assembly and support electrochemical testing
  • Maintain clean and well-organized lab areas that meet safety regulations
  • Support the commission of incoming equipment and create documentation for equipment/processes with the help of engineers

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and above
  • R&D experience in an industry setting is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields
  • Proficiency in MS Office or similar
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to follow health and safety regulations

Time Commitment:

  • Full-time, hourly role located at the labs in Alameda, CA.  

Paid Position: Hourly, based on experience
